This page documents the engine build for Jamie Guptill. His bus is a 1975 Transporter which he has owned and driven for nearly 20 years. His original engine had been repaired once many years ago, and finally was ready for another rebuild. He brought us the engine in pieces, so we have no photos of the teardown. We built him a stock displacement 1.8L engine, kept the fuel injection but used the injection components from a 2.0L engine. We used our custom Bus camshaft for a little more HP, balanced the engine and replaced the exhaust system with ‘72-’74 type components. It’s good for another 20 years now.
